AEP Ohio's corporate parent, AEP is actively pursuing renewable resources across its 11-state service area and is leading the effort to build a nationwide high voltage (HV) grid that will enable greater use of renewable energy sources. Additionally, AEP has signed on as a corporate sponsor of the Pickens Plan for energy independence, which encourages the development and use of renewable energy.

"Since we built the first utility-scale wind farm in Texas nearly 14 years ago, AEP has supported the development of renewable generation to help diversify the U.S. electricity generation mix and reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Mike Morris, AEP chairman, president and chief executive officer.
